The second largest movie theater chain in the country, Regal has decided to shut down all its theaters except for seven in California. However, AMC and Cinemark, the first and third respectively, are remaining open where possible. Heading into its sixth weekend, Tenet [TENET.BW] should be able to clear $2.0 million.
The War with Grandpa [WARGP] hopes to bring back families to theaters. Robert De Niro stars in the PG-rated family film, which had been shelved for two years. 101 Studios rescued the film which was originally set for release in 2018 by The Weinstein Co.. Opening in 2250 theaters, The War with Grandpa could stir up $1.5 million.
Yellow Rose [YLWRS] stars Eva Noblezada as an undocumented immigrant dreaming of becoming a country singer. Sony picked up the PG-13 rated drama a year ago, but only recently slotted the film. Sony gave The Last Shift the same treatment two weeks ago, where it earned just $250K. Asian-Americans may give Yellow Rose a slight boost. With a similar theater count as The Last Shift at near 900 theaters, Yellow Rose may hit $400K.
