This weekend, the man who sank a gigantic boat in the most successful movie ever, James Cameron [JCAME] wants to rewrite history again. The highly anticipated Avatar [AVATR] presents a slice of the future with its immersive 3D technology. In the midst of all the hoopla about Avatar, other films are, hoping to take in the trickle that don’t buy into the hype of the 3D extravaganza. One of those films is Did You Hear About the Morgans? [MRGNS], starring Sarah Jessica Parker [SJPAR] and Hugh Grant [HGRAN].

The wordy title refers to the estranged Manhattan couple played by Grant and Parker. Mr. Paul Morgan finally figures out what a jerk he’s been and wants his wife Meryl to give him another chance. Meryl wants her estranged husband to get out of her life and stay out. One day while the two are having an argument, Meryl sees a client of hers fall from a building to his death after being shot. The two see the killer and the killer gets a good look at them. The squabbling husband and wife become targets of the killer and must now go into a witness protection program in Wyoming. Not only must they relocate from Manhattan, but the situation also forces them to live together, giving them a second chance at their marriage.

Did You Hear About the Morgans? does not cover new ground as far as romantic comedies go. If anything it is a rehashing of all that has come before. New in Town starring Renee Zellweger [RZELL] was a comedy earlier this year about a woman relocating to a Midwestern town from the Big City.

What this film does offer is good chemistry between its two leads. Parker and Grant are both able to bring in the crowds and both are of interest to women, who are the film’s target audience. Mary Steenburgen [MSTEE] and Sam Elliot [SELLI] co-star in the film from writer-director Marc Lawrence, the man behind Two Weeks Notice and Music and Lyrics.
