George Clooney toiled as a TV journeyman before finally catching a break on the NBC drama ER. For five seasons on NBC's top-rated drama, Clooney played the charming Dr. Ross to perfection, and all the while, moonlighted in a variety of film projects. A turning point for Clooney was in 1998, when he appeared in Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight. The ultra-cool, witty crime drama teamed the actor with Jennifer Lopez in one of the year's best films. Clooney finally reached true, leading man status during summer 2000, when his film The Perfect Storm captivated audiences and crossed the $200 million mark at the box office. |
