In a threeway battle for first place, the 3D fantasy epic Immortals [IMRTL] emerged victorious with an estimated $32.0 million weekend. The opening marked the biggest ever for Relativity Media. The action film brought out a crowd that was 60% male and 75% under the age of 35.
Jack and Jill [JAJIL] debuted in second place with $26.0 million. The Adam Sandler [ASAND] comedy attracted an audience that was predominantly family at 53%, which should help the film hold through the holidays.
After two weeks at the top, Puss in Boots [PUSNB] drops to third with $25.5 million. The animated kitty has accumulated $108.8 million.
Sophomore holdover Tower Heist [TWRHS] declined 45% to $13.2 million. The comedy has earned $43.9 million.
The biopic J. Edgar [HOOVR] collected $11.5 million from older moviegoers to take the fifth spot.
