Three new family films fight for Thanksgiving holiday leftovers as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 [TWLI4] sucked in $62.3 million over the five-day weekend to repeat in first place. The vampires have already amssed $221.3 million in10 days.
The Muppets [MUPET] successfully made its comeback with an estimated $42.0 million over the long weekend. The film played to all four quadrants as the audience was split evenly between males and females, while 54% was under the age of 25.
Happy Feet Two [HPYF2] slipped a spot down to third with $18.4 million. The sequel declined 37% when comparing the 3-day portion of the weekend against its opening.
Arthur Christmas [ARTHC] opened in fourth place with $17.0 million over the holiday weekend. The animated film attracted a surprisingly older crowd with 69% over the age of 25.
Hugo [HUGO] earned $15.4 million to debut in fifth place. Paramount opted for a slow roll out to build word of mouth, which has been fantastic with moviegoers.
