With no new wide release in the traditionally slow weekend for box office after Thanksgiving, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 [TWLI4] earned an estimated $16.9 million to three-peat at number one. The vampire romance has already drawn $247.3 million.
The Muppets [MUPET] proved to be extremely front-loaded, dropping 62% to $11.2 million in its second weekend. The movie apparently appealed more to fanboys than family movigoers.
Moving up to third place after opening fifth last week, Hugo [HUGO] declined just 33% to $7.6 million for its sophomore session.
Remaining in fourth place, Arthur Christmas [ARTHC] also held well, decreasing 39% to $7.4 million.
