Moviegoers weren't nostalgic for the 1990s, but rather still pang for The Hunger Games [HGAME], which won for the third weekend with an estimated $33.5 million. The dystopian film has earned $302.9 million.
Coming 9 years after the previous installment, American Reunion [AMPI4] opened in second place with $21.5 million. 61% of the audience was over the age of 25.
Titanic 3D [TTN3D] finished third at $17.4 million. The re-release has earned $25.1 million since opening on Wednesday.
Wrath of the Titans [CLSH2] dropped 55% in its second session to $15.0 million, while fellow sophmore pic Mirror Mirror [SNOWH] decayed 39% to $11.0 million.
