The fourth film in Fox's animated prehistoric series, Ice Age: Continental Drift [ICEA4] grossed an estimated $46.0 million to finish atop the box office as the weekend's sole new wide release. The opening fell well short of the $68 million high from the second film Ice Age: The Meltdown, perhaps due to franchise fatigue and competition from other 3D films.
The Amazing Spider-Man [SPID4] decline 44% to $35.0 million in its second weekend. The webslinger has surpassed $200.9 million.
Ted [TED] finished in third place with $22.1 million to advance its total to $159.0 million. At the fourth spot, Brave [BRAVE] nailed $10.7 million bringing its total to $195.6 million after four weekends.
Magic Mike [MGCMK] charged up another $9.0 million to finish fifth. Savages [SAVAG] followed closely behind with $8.7 million, a drop of 45% in its second weekend.
