Vampires are hot. The classic horror monsters have become modern day anti-heroes as seen from Twilight to True Blood. Universal is capitalizing on the trend by changing the title of their Cirque du Freak adaptation to The Vampire's Assistant [VAMPA], taken from the second book in the series. Directed by Paul Weitz [PWEIT], the film chronicles a teenager's journey into becoming a vampire and dealing with his newfound powers. Sorta like the supernatural version of Spider-Man. The release date was pushed up from February of next year to this October, possibly to get a jump on The Twilight Sage: New Moon [TWLI2], ironically directed by Paul's brother, Chris Weitz [CWEIT].
