After already seducing most of the world, James Bond conquered North America with an estimated $87.8 million weekend for Skyfall [JB23]. The opening is the highest ever for the spy franchise topping Quantum of Solace's $67.5 million. Skyfall also added $2.2 million from Thursday. The audience comprised of 60% males and 75% over the age of 25.
Last weekend's top earner, Wreck-It ralph [RALPH] dropped down to second at $33.1 million, a 33% decline from its debut. The videogame movie has coined $93.7 million.
Flight [FLIGH] took third place with $15.1 million. The drama trailed off 39% in its second weekend to bring its total to $47.8 million.
Opening in 11 theaters, Lincoln [ABE] grossed $0.9 million for a stellar per theater average of $81,818.
