Scoring the third best March opening ever and the best of the year thus far, Oz the Great and Powerful [OZTGP] topsthe weekend box office with an estimated $80.3 million. The Disney fantasy film drew a broad audience that was 52% female and 54% over the age of 25. Families made up 41% of the crowd as the box office increased 35% from Friday to Saturday.
Last weekend's champion Jack the Giant Slayer [JACGK] tumbled 63% to $10.0 million. The not so golden goose has laid just $43.8 million.
Identity Thief finished in third place with another $6.3 million to bring its total to $116.5 million.
FilmDistrict's crime thriller Dead Man Down [DMDWN] took in $5 .4 million to debut fourth overall.
