Earning more in its opening weekend than the entire original trilogy in their entire theatrical run, the rebooted Evil Dead [EVILD] led the box office with an estimated $26.0 million. The bloody horror film attracted an audience that was 56% male and 56% over the age of 25.
The Croods [CROOD] finished tied for second with G.I. JOE: Retaliation [GIJO2] at $21.1 million. The animated film has reached $125.8 million after 3 weekends. The action sequel dropped 48% in its second weekend to bring its total to $86.7 million.
The Jurassic Park 3D [JP3D] re-release tallied $18.2 million to open in the fourth spot. Those in ateendance were 55% male and 54% over the age of 25.
Olympus Has Fallen [OLYHF] took fifth place with $10.0 million to advance its gross to $71.1 million.
Tyler Perry's Temptation [TMRGC] declined 54% in its second session to $10.0 million and sixth overall.
