The last weekend before blockbuster season proved lighter than usual as Pain & Gain [PAING] topped the box office with just $20 million. The action comedy attracted an audience that was 51% male and 63% over the age of 25.
Last week's champ Oblivion tumbled 53% to $17.4 million. The sci-fi film has grossed $64.7 million.
42 [42] took third with another $10.7 million to bring its running total to $69.1 million.
The Big Wedding [TBWED] debuted in fourth place with a disappointing $7.5 million. The romantic comedy skewed female at 77%.
Opening in just 363 theaters, Mud [MUD] earned $2.2 million for eleventh overall.
Company You Keep [COYKP] tallied $1.2 million in its wide expansion to 807 theaters.
