Captain Phillips [CDUTY] remained in second with $17.3 million. The thriller declines a respectable 33% in its second outing to $53.3 million.
Carrie [CARIE] opened at the third spot with an underwhleming $17.0 million. The horror remake attracted an audience that was 56% under the age of 25.
Coming in at fourth, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 [CWCM2] grossed $10.1 million to push its total to $93.1 million after 4 weekends.
Escape Plan [ESCPL] debuted fifth overall with $9.8 million. The action film brought out a crowd that was 55% males.
Expanding to 757 theaters, Enough Said [ENUSD] earned $1.8 million to finish seventh.
Debuting with just $1.7 million, The Fifth Estate [T5EST] flopped badly at the eight spot.
