Everything is awesome for the Warner Bros. as the animated The LEGO Movie [LEGO] stacked up an estimated $69.1 million to top the weekend box office. The opening is the second best ever for February behind only The Passion of the Christ. The toy-based movie appealed to both families and adults without children. With an A CinemaScore, The LEGO Movie will have long legs into spring.
The Monuments Men [MONUM] debuted in second place with $22.7 million. The WWII drama's all star-cast was able to overcome poor reviews to draw older adults.
The reigning champion Ride Along [RDLON] dropped to third at $9.4 million. The comedy has rolled up $105.2 million.
That Awkward Moment [AWODT] declined 37% in its second weekend to $5.5 million.
Vampire Academy [VACDM] sucked in just $4.1 million to open seventh overall.
