The orriginal Friday the 13th series took three films before it utilized the 3D gimmick, but the rebooted franchise will go 3D with its second film, Friday the 13th Part 2 [FRI12]. As The Final Destination demonstrated over Halloween II, 3D can make the difference in bringing fans back to a horror sequel. Warner Bros. has set the release date for Friday the 13th Part 2 on, what else, Friday the 13th of August, 2010.
1982's Friday the 13th Part III is often considered the best in the franchise. Jason Vorhees put on his trademark hockey mask for the first time and killed his victims with "a dimension in terror". No cast has yet been announced for the new Friday the 13th Part 2, though it's sure to feature a young star or two from the WB network.
