A new weekend box office champion is crowned as the thriller No Good Deed [NOGDD] earned an estimated $24.5 million. The film connected with its target audience at 70% African-Americans and 60% female.
Dolphin Tale 2 [DLPH2] debuted in second place with $16.6 million, falling short of the first film. The family film skewed older than expected with 63% female and 56% over the age of 25.
Guardians of the Galaxy finished third with $8.0 million to up its total to a 2014 best $305.9 million.
The Drop [TDROP] grossed $4.2 million from just 809 theaters to open in sixth place.
