From his roster of potential projects, the real-life based drama Gucci [GUCCI] has emerged as the unlikely front-runner to be the next film directed by Ridley Scott [RSCOT]. Adapted from the book "The House of Gucci", the film chronicles the glamourous decadence and family quarrels within the fashion dynasty that culminated in the 1995 murder of Maurizio Gucci, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci. Angelina Jolie [AJOLI] is in talks to play Patrizia Gucci, who is serving a 26 years jail sentence for hiring a hitman to kill her ex-husband. Scott would like Leonardo DiCaprio [LDCAP] to play Maurizio.
Jolie recently boarded The Tourist [AZIMR] which just named Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck as the director just yesterday. The thriller is scheduled to go into production first in 2010 before Gucci. These two upcoming roles would either keep her out of Wanted 2 [WANT2] or delay the sequel. DiCaprio is currently filming Inception [INCPT] while Scott is wrapping up Robin Hood [NOTNH].
