Holding off a couple of films in their sophomore weekend, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies [HOBT3] earned an estimated $21.9 million to lead the box office for a third straight weekend. The final film has banked $220.8 million.
Into the Woods [INTWD] remained in second at $19.1 million, down 39% from its opening. The musical has already sung to the tune of $91.2 million.
Unbroken [UBRKN] finished third with $18.4 million, off 40% from its debut. The biopic has inspired $87.8 million.
The weekend's only new wide release, The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death [WMBL2] scared up $15.1 million to open at the fifth spot. The horror sequel attracted an audience that was 53% female and 65% under the age of 25.
The Imitation Game [IMITG] actually gained 2% in its second weekend of wide release, securing $8.1 million to bring its total to $30.8 million.
