Joel and Ethan Coen are lining up an A-list cast for their remake of the 1969 western True Grit [TGRIT]. Josh Brolin [JBROL], who wore the white hat in the Oscar-winning No Country for Old Men, will reunite with the Coen Brothers [COEN] and wear the dark hat as the villain who killed the father of a teenage girl. Matt Damon [MDAMO] is in talks to play a Texas Ranger on his trails. Jeff Bridges [JBRID] was previously attached to play U.S. Marshal Rooster Cogburn, the role originated by John Wayne.
Damon previously starred in the cotemporary western All The Pretty Horses, based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy, the same author who wrote No Country for Old Men. Brolin also stars in the 2010 western Jonah Hex [JOHEX].
