Leading the box office for a third straight weekend, Furious 7 [FAST7] gassed up another $29.1 million to up its tank to $294.4 million. The action adventure also cleared $1.15 billion globally to become Universal's highest-grossing film ever.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 [MALC2] debuted in second place with an estimated $24.0 million. The critically drubbed sequel is Kevin James' second best opener after the first Mall Cop.
Unfriended [CYBRN] streamed $16.0 million to open at the third spot. The horror film attracted an audience that was 60% female and 75% under 25.
In fourth place, Home [SMEKD] added another $10.3 million to bring its total to $142.6 million. The Longest Ride [LNGST] dropped 47% in its sedcond weekend to $6.9 million and fifth overall.
Monkey Kingdom [MNKNG] opened at seventh with $4.7 million, while True Story [TRUES] bombed with $1.9 million.
Expanding wide to 731 theaters, While We're Young [WWERY] earned $1.6 million.
