Challenging the all-time opening weekend box office record, Jurassic World [JURA4] earned an estimated $204.6 million to rank second behind just The Avengers' $207.4 million. The dino sequel could well surpass that sum when the actual box office from Sunday is tallied. Jurassic World drew an audience that was 52% male and 61% over the age of 25.
Last weekend's top film, Spy [SCOPR] finished second with $16.0 million, down 45% from its debut. The action comedy has banked $56.9 million.
San Andreas [SANDR] shook another $11.0 million in third place to bring its total to $119.3 million.
Insidious: Chapter 3 [NSID3] dropped 68% in its second weekend to $7.3 million and the fourth spot. The horror prequel has grossed $37.4 million.
