Two new sequels failed to ignite over the Fourth of July holiday weekend as Jurassic World [JURA4] held on to first place for a fourth consecutive week with an estimated $30.9 million. The dino sequel has amassed $558.2 million.
Inside Out [NMIND] remained the bridesmaid for a third week with $30.1 million. The animated Pixar film has earned $246.2 million.
Terminator: Genisys [TERM5] debuted at the third position with $28.7 million over the weekend, and $44.1 million since opening on Wednesday. The sci-fi sequel attracted an audience that was 62% male and 65% over the age of 25.
Magic Mike XXL [MGCM2] took the fourth spot with just $12.0 million, and $27.1 million in its first five days. The musical sequel's audience was made up nearly entirely of women at 96%.
Expanding wide to 870 theaters, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl [MEADG] grossed $1.3 million.
