With new new wide releases struggling to find an audience, the musical biopic Straight Outta Compton retained the top spot with an estimated $26.8 million. The film about N.W.A. dropped 56% in its second weekend to bring its total to $111.5 million.
Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation [MISS5] held second place with another $11.7 million. The fifth installment in the spy franchise has banked $157.8 million.
Sinister 2 [SINI2] debuted at third with $10.6 million, far short of the first film's $18 million. The horror sequwl attracted an audience that was 51% female and 57% over the age of 25.
Hitman: Agent 47 [HITM2] scored $8.2 million to open in fourth place. The reboot also fell short of the 2007 original's $13 million. The audience skewed 61% male and 60% over the age of 25,
The Man from UNCLE [UNCLE] declined 45% in its second weekend to $7.4 million, bringing its total across $26.6 milion.
American Ultra [AULTR] managed just $5.5 million to debut at sixth overall. The stoner comedy brought in 56% males and 65% over the age of 25.
