Two new wide releases both outperformed expectations as The Perfect Guy [TPGUY] scored an estimated $26.7 million to top the weekend box office. The thriller topped the $24.2 million debut of Sony's No Good Deed last year. The audience skewed 70% female, 59% over the age of 25 and 61% African-American.
The Visit [SUNDW] opened in second with $25.7 million. M. Night Shyamalan's return to horror brought out a crowd that was 48% under the age of 21 and 60% female.
War Room [WARRM] finished third at $7.4 million, bringing its total to $39.2 million after three weekends.
A Walk in the Woods [WLKWD] arrived in fourth with $4.6 million, off 44% from its debut. The comedy has booked $19.9 million.
Debuting in 878 theaters, 90 Minutes in Heaven [90MIH] raised $2.2 million for ninth overall.
