Two horror-themed films opened this weekend, but only the family friendly Goosebumps [GBUMP] connected with an estimated $23.5 milion for first place. The Sony film attracted many who grew up on the kids book series as 62% of the audience was the age of 25.
After two weeks at the top, The Martian [MARTN] finished second with $21.5 million to bring its total to $143.8 million.
Bridges of Spies [CLDWR] debuted in third place with $15.4 million. The Cold War thriller skewed 89% over the age of 25.
Crimson Peak [CRMSP] opened fourth overall at $12.8 million. The gothic horror was too period for men and too gory for women.
Pan [PAN1] dropped 62% in its second weekend to $5.9 million.
Woodlawn [WDLWN] earned $4.1 million to chart at ninth.
