Continuing its recrod-setting run at the box office, Star Wars: The Force Awakens [STAR7] banked an estimated $153.3 million for the best second weekend ever. Episode VII of the space opera saga has piled up $544.6 million.
Daddy's Home [DHOME] took in a whopping $38.8 million to debut in second place. The family comedy connected broadly across demgraphics.
Joy opened at the third spot with $17.5 million. The Jennifer Lawrence vehicle skewed older women at 66% female and 77% over the age of 25.
Sisters [TNEST] did not decline at all from its opening weekend, grossing $13.9 million for fourth. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip [ALVN4] slipped 11% to $12.7 million and fifth overall.
Concussion [GAMEB] charted at sixth with $11.0 million, while the remake Point Break [PTBR2] debuted eighth at $10.2 million.
Expanding wide after two weeks of limited release, The Big Short [BIGSH] took seventh with $10.5 million.
Opening on 100 theaters, The Hateful Eight [HATE8] brought in $3.8 million.
