Moviegoers weren't impressed with the studio counterprogramming against the Super Bowl this weekend as Kung Fu Panda 3 [PAND3] fell 49% from its debut but still held first place with an estimated $21.0 million. The threequel has ate $69.1 million.
Hail, Caesar! [HAILC] performed the best among the new releases with $11.4 million for second place.
The Revenant [REVEN.BW] took third with $7.1 million, bringing its total to $149.7 million. Star Wars: The Force Awakens [STAR7.BW] followed with $6.9 million to take it across $906.0 million.
The Choice [CHOCE] opened in fifth place at $6.1 million as adaptations of Nicholas Sparks continue to trend downward.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies [PRDPZ] died with just $5.2 million for sixth overall.
The Finest Hours [FINHR] declined 54% in its second weekend to $4.7 million.
