After all the chatter, Ghostbusters [GHST3] debuted in second place with a respectable $46.0 million. It's the biggest opening for both Melissa McCarthy [MMCCA] and Paul Feig [PFEIG]. The female-led reboot attracted an audience that was 57% female and 63% over the age of 25.
The Legend of Tarzan [TARZN] grabbed another $11.1 million for the third spot. The ape man has climbed to $103 million after 3 weekends.ifth
Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates [MDNWD] finished fifth at $7.5 million. The comedy dropped 55%in its second weekend to bring its sum to $31.3 million.
