Meeting the lowered expectation of the studio at a series low with the rebooted cast, Star Trek Beyond [TREK3] leads the weekend box office with an estimated $59.6 million. The sci-fi sequel brought out an audience that was 57% males and 75% over the age of 25.
The Secret Life of Pets [PETS] was dethroned to second with $29.3 million. The animated film has brought home $260.7 million.
Lights Out [LITSO] debuted with $21.6 million to tie for third place. The horror connected with an audience that was 54% female and 74% under 25.
Ghostbusters [GHST3] decayed 53% in its second weekend to $21.6 million. The femme-reboot has captured $86.9 million.
Ice Age: Collision Course [ICEA5] bombed with a fracnhise low $21.0 million and fifth overall. The turnout was 57% females and 60% under 25.
The Infiltrator [NFILT] declined just 38% in its second weekend to $3.3 million.
