Three new films opened wide this weekend, but none challenged Suicide Squad [SUICD], which remained in first place with an estimated $20.7 million. The DC Comics adaptation has banked $262.3 million.
Sausage Party [SAUSG] stayed in second place with $15.3 million. The animated comedy dropped 55% to bring its total to $65.9 million after 10 days.
War Dogs [ARMDU] earned $14.3 million to debut at the third spot. The action comedy attracted an audience that was 56% males and 67% over the age of 25.
Kubo and the Two Strings [KUBO] opened fourth with $12.6 million, the lowest of any LAIKA stop-motion animated film.
The $100 million production Ben-Hur [BNHUR] bombed with a fifth placing $11.4 million. Young moviegoers had no interest in the remake, which skewed 95% over the age of 25 and 51% female.
Expanding to 472 theaters, Hell or High Water [CMNCH] grossed $2.7 million.
