The first Disney hand-drawn animated film in five years, The Princess and the Frog [FROGP] leaped to the top of the box office with an estimated $25.0 million. The G-rated fairy tale musical looks to have strong legs over the holidays.
The Blind Side [BLDSD] gained another $15.5 million to finish second. The inspirational drama about pro football player Michael Oher has muscled its way to $150.2 million.
Another real-life based sports drama Invictus [INVIC] debuted in third place at nearly $9.1 million. With awards buzz surrounding the film about Nelson Mandela's effort to unite South Africa, Invictus should hold strong during upcoming weeks.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon [TWLI2] earned $8 million to up its cumulative gross to $267.4 million.
