The New Year holiday weekend brought more bountiful box office as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [SW16] held the top spot with an estimated $49.8 million over the 3-day and $64.0 million over the 4-day weekend. The spin-off prequel should hit $441.0 million by Monday.
Sing [SING] enjoyed a big bump from its opening weekend with $41.4 million for the 3-day and $53.7 million for the 4-day weekend. The animated toon has already belted out $177.3 million.
Passengers [PSSNG] also saw a second weekend increase to $16.1 million and $20.7 million respectively. The sci-fi romance has secured $61.4 million.
Fences [FENCE] jumped up to fifth place with $10.2 million and $13.0 million. The drama has collected $32.7 million in 8 days.
Why Him? [WHYHM] finished sixth at $10.0 million and $13.0 million. The comedy has laughed up $34.6 million.
La La Land [LALAL] followed at seventh with $9.5 million and $12.0 million in its second weekend of wide release. The musical has hit $36.8 million.
Assassin's Creed [ASCRD] scored $8.0 million and $10.0 million for the weekend to advance its total to $39.0 million.
