Opening at an estimated $100.5 million at the weekend box office, Wonder Woman [WONDR] becomes the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman. The superheroine attracted an audience that was 52% female. With excellent reviews and word of mouth, Wonder Woman should show good legs.
Captain Underpants [CUNDP] captured $23.5 million to debut in second place. The animated film drew 54% male and 65% under the age of 25.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales [PIRT5] dropped to third place with $23.5 million, down 66% from its 3-day opening on Memorial Weekend.
