Contestants brought their best on last night's American Idol singing the songs of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. As the third week of the top 12 round comes to a close, it is clear that no one rest on their laurels as they cut down to the final eight.
The judges basically confirmed last night that Crystal Bowersox [AI9CBO] was the contestant to beat. She changed her style yet again for 'Come Together' and wowed audiences and judges with her spot on vocals. HSX traders find her to be the best too as her Warrant is priced the highest at H$19.02. Bowersox is clearly the favorite to win it all.
Michael Lynche [AI9MLY] has risen to become the second favorite of HSX traders as he delivered a very theatrical version of 'Eleanor Rigby.' While some thought it was overdone, the judges agreed that Lynche challenged himself rather than playing it safe.
Lee Dwayze [AI9LDE] and Casey James [AI9CJA] also shone last night with their performances of 'Hey Jude' and 'Jealous Man.' The two are hoping the close the gap between each other and the top contenders.
Bowersox' female nemesis Siobhan Magnus [AI9SMA] was all about sensitivity with her performance of 'Across the Universe.' Magnus needs to step it up, however, to get herself back to the level she was at in the beginning of the competition.
Aaron Kelly [AI9AKE] and Andrew Garcia [AI9AGA] were commendable singing 'The Long and Winding Road' and 'Can't Buy Me Love' respectively. Commendable is no longer going to work as both need to showcase their vocals over style to beat the better singers.
Finally, Katie Stevens [AI9KST] and Tim Urban [AI9TUR] are the lowest priced Warrants. Looking like a Beatle won't cut it for Urban whose performance of 'All My Loving' was mediocre. Although she was better than previous weeks, Stevens was still boring on 'Let It Be.' In a competition full of drama queens and superstars, neither hopeful has stood out.
