Franchise fatigue has set in on the once mighty Lucasfilm brand as Solo: A Star Wars Story [SWAR2] underperformed with an estimated $103.0 million over the 4-day Memorial holiday weekend. The debut came in under Disney's own modest expectation of $130 million and well short of Rogue One's $155 million 3-day opening. The spin-off prequel attracted an audience that was 58% male and 64% over the age of 25.
Deadpool 2 [DEAD2] dropped to second with $55.0 million. The sequel tumbled more than 66% over the 3-day portion of the weekend to bring its totatl to $219.7 million.
Avengers: Infinity War [AVNG3.BW] took third with $21.2 million, pushing its sum across $626.4 million.
Book Club [BKCLB] finished fourth at $12.5 million and $34.7 million after 2 weekends.
Life of the Party [LFOPT] rounded out the top five with $6.9million, bringing its total to $40.9 million.
Breaking In [BRKIN] landed at sixth at $5.7 million and $37.3 million overall.
Show Dogs [SHWDG] dug up $4.6 million for the seventh spot and $12.2 million after 2 weekends.
