Carving up the weekend in first place with an estimated $77.5 million, Halloween [HALW3] scored the second highest opening for the month of October behind Venom set two weeks ago. The debut is already more than the total box office of any previous Halloween film. The horror sequel drew 53% male and 59% over the age of 25.
A Star Is Born [ASTAR] stayed at the second spot with $19.3 million, bringing its total to $126.4 million.
After two weeks at the top, Venom [VENM1] finished third with $18.1 million and $171.1 million overall.
Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween [GBUM2] slipped 39% in its second weekend to $9.7 million. The sequel has earned $28.8 million.
First Man [FIRSM] declined 46% from its debut to $8.8 million and fifth place.
The Hate U Give [HTUGV] moved up to sixth with $7.5 million in its first weekend of wide release. The audience was 64% female and 51% over the age of 25.
Expanding to 802 theaters, Old Man & The Gun [OMATG] took tenth with $2.1 million. The Sisters Brothers [TSBRO] also expanded to 1141 theaters, but finished outside the top 12 with $0.7 million.
