Carrying away an estimated $66.0 million in its debut, the animated Dr. Seuss' The Grinch [HTGSC] easily topped the weekend box office. The Christmas film should enjoy a long run through the holidays.
Last weekend's king, Bohemian Rhapsody [FREDI] slipped 40% to $30.9 million and second place. The Queen biopic crossed $100 million.
Overlord [OVRLD] debuted in third place at $10.1 million. The horror skewed 69% male.
The Nutcracker and the Four Realms [NUTFR] finished at the fourth spot with $9.6 million, down 53% from its debut. The fantasy stands at $35.3 million.
The Girl in the Spider's Web [TGRL2] caught just $8.0 million to open at fifth place. The audience was 52% female and 74% aged 25 and older.
Nobobdy's Fool [THLST] took seventh with $6.5 million, down 52% from its opening to bring its total to $14.3 million.
Expanding wide to 777 theaters, Beautiful Boy [BTFUB] finished outwide the top 12 with $1.4 million.
