After dipping for the two past weekends, the box office swung back up as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse [ASPDR] netted an estimated $35.4 million, the biggest three-day opening in December for an animated film beating Sing's $35.2 million. The film attracted an audience that was 63% male and 59% under 25.
The Mule [TMULE] debuted in second place with $17.2 million. The turnout crowd was 54% male and 88% aged 25 and older.
Ralph Breaks the Internet [RALP2] finished fourth at $9.6 million, bringing its total to $154.5 million.
Mortal Engines [MENGN] revved up just $7.5 million to place fifth. The steampunk fantasy drew 55% male and 64% aged 25 or older.
Creed II [CREE2] took the sixth spot with $5.4 million and $104.9 million after 4 weekends.
Expanding to 439 theaters, The Favourite [FVRIT] curried $2.6 million to round tout the top 12.
