Breathing new life to the 2019 box office with an estimated $55.5 million, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World [HTYD3] has the highest opening of the year as well as the best for the animated franchise. The finale drew an audience that was 51% male and 61% under the age of 25.
Alita: Battle Angel [ALITA] was dethroned to second with $12.0 million, down 58% from its debut. The total stands at $60.7 million.
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part [LEGO2] finished third at $10.0 million, bringing its total to $83.6 million.
Expanding to wide release, Fighting with My Family [FTWMF] earned $8.0 million to take the fourth spot.
Isn't It Romantic [ISROM] declined 47% in its second weekend to $7.5 million and fifth overall. The romantic comedy has banked $33.8 million.
Run the Race [RTRAC] crossed the finish line in tenth place with $2.3 million. The faith-based crowd was 53% female and 77% over the age 25.
