The 91st Academy Awards went without a host last night and ended up a better and shorter show. In a year without a dominant film, Bohemian Rhapsody led the way with four Oscars. The wealth was spread around as Black Panther, Green Book and Roma each went home with three Oscars. The Hollywood Stock Exchange offered AwadOptions for the nominees in the top eight categories and HSX traders collectively predicted five of this year’s Oscar winners. Here's the category break down.
In a mild surprise, the Oscar for Best Picture went to Green Book [A9PGRN], while HSX had favored Roma [A9PROM]. Alfonso Cuaron – Roma [A9DACU] won Best Director, as forecasted by HSX.
Rami Malek – Bohemian Rhapsody [A9ARMA] was named Best Actor, as expected by HSX. Olivia Colman – The Favourite [A9COCO] took Best Actress in an upset over Glenn Close – The Wife [A9CGCL], who was the choice of HSX and most pundits.
Mahersala Ali – Green Book [A9RMAL] collected Best Supporting Actor, while Regina King – If Beale Street Could Talk [A9SRKI] garnered Best Supporting Actress, both of which were predicted by HSX.
Best Adapted Screenplay belonged to BlacKkKlansman [A9EBKM], as projected by HSX. Best Original Screenplay went to Green Book [A9OGRN], instead HSX selection The Favourite [A9OFAV].
