Two more sequels no one asked for opened to disappointing numbers as Men In Black: International [MIB4] topped the weekend box office with $28.5 million. Led by a new cast, the sci-fi comedy drew an audience that was 56% male and 53% aged 25 or older.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 [PETS2] was dethroned to second with $23.8 million, down 49% from its debut. The animated sequel has brought home $92.0 million.
Aladdin [ALADN] remained at the third spot with $16.7 million, advancing its total to $263.4 million.
Dark Phoenix [XMEN7] tumbled 72% in its second session to $9.0 million and fourth place. TFox's last X-Men stands at $51.8 million.
Rocketman [RCKTM] finished fifth at $8.8 million, bringing its total to $66.1 million.
Shaft [SHAF2] got shafted with a $8.3 million debut in sixth place. The sequel surprisingly skewed female at 54% while 84% was aged 25 years or older.
Expanding to wide release, Late Night [LATNT] scored $5.1 million for seventh overall. Female over 25 made up 52% of the audience.
The Dead Don't Die [TDDDI] rounded out the top 12 with a $2.4 million debut in 601 theaters.
