Disney's reign at the weekend box office continue as its remake of The Lion King [LIONK] led with an estimated $185.0 million. The opening surpassed the July record held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II's $169.1 million as well as the animated mark set by The Incredibles 2's $182.6 million set last year. The Audience was 53% female and 50% aged 25 and over.
Spider-Man: Far From Home [SPID7] stepped down to second at $21.0 million, pushing its total to $319.7 million after three weekends.
Crawl [CRAWL] lost half of its opening to take the fourth spot at $6.0 million. The horror film has $23.8 million.
Yesterday [AUNIL] finished fifth with $5.1 million and $57.6 million overall.
Stuber [STUBR] declined 51% in its second weekend to $4.0 million and sixth place. The comedy has fared $16.1 million.
Playing in just 35 theaters, The Farewell [TFRWL] charted at 12 with nearly $1.2 million.
