Fighting off sequelitis that plagued other franchises this summer, Angel Has Fallen [HFAL3] led the weekend box office with an estimated $21.25 million, just off the $21.6 million debut from London Has Fallen. The actioner attracted an older crowd that gave the film excellent exit scores.
Good Boys [GBOYS] stepped down to second with $11.0 million, down 49% from its opening. The raunchy comedy has grossed $42.1 million.
Overcomer [OVRCM] debuted at the third spot at $8.2 million. The faith-based audience gave the film an A+ CinemaScore.
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw [FAFHS] finished its fourth weekend with $8.1 million, bringing its total to $147.7 million.
Ready or Not [RONOT] charted sixth with $7.6 million, and $10.6 million since opening on Wednesday. The horror audience was 53% female with 79% 35 and under.
The Angry Birds Movie 2 [ANGR2] declined 39% in its second weekend to $6.4 million and seventh place. The animated sequel sits at $27.1 million.
47 Meters Down: Uncaged [48MDW] landed eleventh with $4.0 million, dropping 53% from its opening. The shark sequel has consumed $15.4 million.
Expanding wide to 991 theaters, The Peanut Butter Falcon [PBFAL] rounded out the top12 with $3.0 million.
