Turning up an estimated $93.5 million at the weekend box office, Joker [JOKER] surpassed Venom's $80.3 million last year to set the new highest October opening record. It could easily top Justice League's $93.8 million debut when the actual number comes in. The audience skewed 64% male and 68% under the age of 25.
Last weekend's champ, Abominable [EVERS] was second with $12.0 million. The animated film declined 42% in its sophomore weekend to bring its total to $37.8 million.
Downton Abbey [DWTAB] finished third at $8.0 million and $73.6 million after 3 weekends.
Hustlers [HSTLRS] earned another $6.3 million for fourth place and $91.3 million overall.
Staying at the seventh spot, Judy [JUDY] knocked down $4.4 million in its wide expansion. The musical biopic has grossed $8.9 million.
War [WARHT] was ninth with $1.6 million and $2.1 million since opening in 305 theaters on Wednesday.
