Disney starts off 2020 the way 2019 ended, atop the weekend box office with an estimated $33.7 million from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker [STAR9]. However, the sequel dropped another 53% in its third weekend to bring its total to $450.8 million.
Jumanji: The Next Level [JUMN2] retained second place with $26.5 million, advancing its total to $236.2 million after 4 weekends.
Little Women [LTLWM] moved up a rung to third with $13.6 million, off just 19% from its opening weekend. The drama has already taken in $60.0 million.
The Grudge [GRUD4] opened in fourth place at $11.3 million. The audience of 53% male and 51% aged 25 or older gave the horror reboot a CinemaScore of F.
Spies in Disguise [PIGEN] finished at the sixth spot with $10.1 million, down just 24% in its second weekend. The animated film has gathered $46.7 million.
Uncut Gems [UNCUT] dipped just 18% from its wide expansion last week to $7.8 million and eighth overall. The drama has banked $36.8 million.
