After five months of theater closure due to the coromavirus pandemic, Unhinged [UNHNG] became the first film to reach wide status again earning an estimated $4.0 million from 1823 theaters. Solstice Studios took first place with its first ever release. The thriller pull in an audience that was 56% male, and 76% over age 25.
Playing in only Canadian theaters, The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run [SPBO3] finished second at $550,000. The animated sequel has banked $2 million after 10 days.
Words on the Bathroom Wall [WOBRW] debuted at the third spot with $462,000 from 925 theaters.
Cut Throat City [CUTTC] opened in fourth place with $240,000 from 395 locations.
Expanding to U.S. theaters after two weeks in Canada, Peninsula [PNSLA] grossed $210,000.
The Tax Collector [TAXCO] took in another $121,800 in its third weekend.
The Rental [RENTL] went up in its fourth weekend to $108,000 and $1.5 million overall.
