Moviegoers’ reluctance to patronize theaters during a pandemic to see Tenet [TENET] has forced studios to push back the release of big-budgeted movies from the Fall calendar. Even with little competition, Tenet may clock in just $4.5 million for a third weekend atop the box office.
The weekend’s only new wide release Infidel [INFID] stars Jim Caviezel [JCAVI]. The R-rated action thriller is the first film distributed by Cloudburst Entertainment, which was founded by former executives of Pure Flix. Targeted at moviegoers in the heartland, Infidel may bring in $1.5 million from 1724 theaters.
The New Mutants [NMUTN] looks to tally another $1.2 million during its fourth weekend.
The Broken Hearts Gallery [BHGAL] did little business during its debut and could decline around 50% to $0.6 million.
That’s the whisper from the virtual trading floor.
