New York has announced that movie theaters will be allowed to reopen beginning March 5th next weekend. That won’t be soon enough for Tom & Jerry [TMJRY], the fourth wide release from Warner Bros. that will also be available day-n-date on HBO Max. The PG-rated hybrid film brings the animated cat and mouse duo into the live-action world inhabited by a cast led by Chloe Grace Moretz [CMORE]. Family film is the one genre that’s brought out moviegoers during the COVID-19 pandemic. With a theater count estimated to be around 2000, Tom & Jerry could wound up with about $5.5 million.
The Croods: A New Age finally has new competition for the family audience, but will still finish in second place with over $1 million.
Judas and the Black Messiah [JWMHB] looks to take in around $500K in its third weekend of day-n-date release on HBO Max.
That’s the whisper from the virtual trading floor.
