Becoming the first film to cross the $100 million since the start of the pandemic, A Quiet Place Part II [AQPL2] is back atop the weekend box office with an estimated $11.65 million to in its third weekend. The horror sequel has banked $109 million.
In the Heights [INHTS] did not lived up to the hype as the musical underperformed expectations with an estimated $11.4 million. Latinx made up 33% of the audience, which skewed 62% female and 60% over the age of 25. With an A CinemaScore, the musical should have legs.
Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway [PRAB2] debuted in third place with $10.4 million. The sequel grossed only 40% of the first film’s $25.0 million.
Last weekend’s champ The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It [CNJU3] tumbled 58% from its debut to $10.0 million and $43.8 million overall.
Cruella [CRULA] nabbed another $6.7 million in its third outing to push its total to nearly $56 million.
Spirit Untamed [SPRDF] dropped 59% in its sophomore frame to $2.5 million. The animated film has tallied $10.9 million.
Opening in 420 theaters, The House Next Door: Meet the Blacks 2 [MTBL2] took in $1.06 million. Meanwhile, Queen Bees [QUENB] debuted with $328K from 500 theaters.
